There are many others, forming an extended network, and including those working quietly behind the scenes to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible for our patients.
 | Mrs Sylvia A Fairley RGN RCNT Dip Nurs (Lond) Practice Manager, Sandyhurst House Following a PA/Secretarial course in Sussex, Sylvia entered the Nightingale School of Nursing, London in 1977. She qualified with Honours as a State Registered Nurse in 1980. As Charge nurse on the professorial surgical unit at St Thomas' Hospital, she developed skills in surgical nursing and coordination of patient care. In 1983 she gained a clinical teaching certificate from the Royal College of Nursing. She taught ENT nursing in the Nightingale School. In 1984 she was awarded a Diploma in Nursing (with merit) from the University of London. Maintaining her professional registration with the UKCC during a career break to bring up three children, she has since 1993 provided specialist nursing advice to our private patients. Sylvia coordinates all aspects of care, from making the initial appointment, telephone advice on what to expect during the consultation, medical records, arranging tests and admissions, dealing with insurance company forms, pre-operative and post-operative advice. Telephone 01233 642244 |  | Mrs Lynda Hover Medical Secretary, Sandyhurst House Lynda is a qualified medical secretary with over 30 years experience. She is skilled in DGL Practice Manager, the UK's leading integrated Private Medical Practice software since 1993. She produces, maintains and retrieves computer-based and paper medical records to the standards required by our registration under the Data Protection Act. Clinical letters to GP's and other professionals are transcribed from audio tapes dictated by Mr Fairley, and timely accurate invoices are produced. Lynda can take messages and book your appointment, telephone 01233 642244. |  | Mrs Samantha Henley RGN Staff Nurse, Out-Patients & Endoscopy, St Saviours Hospital Sam qualified as a State Registered Nurse in 1972. She completed postgraduate training in ENT at the Royal National Throat, Nose & Ear Hospital London. She has experience in occupational health, childrens ward, and care of the elderly. She has worked in out-patients and endoscopy at St Saviours Hospital since 1996. She sets up the specialist examination equipment in our consulting room and ENT treatment room, and assists in the procedures. She is skilled in looking after delicate, complex and expensive equipment including the operating microsope, rigid and flexible endoscopes. She is responsible for recording compliance with all regulatory requirements governing the sterile instruments and controlled drug medications we use. Her first duty at all times is to ensure patients' safety and comfort.
|  | Sister Julia Smith BSc RGN Dip Nurs William Harvey Hospital Julia has over 30 years clinical experience in nursing. She specialises in ENT, and holds a postgraduate Certificate of Proficiency in Aural care from Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. She is currently in charge of the ENT operating theatres in the Channel Day Surgery Centre, and provides nursing expertise for ENT procedures in our private ENT out-patients clinics at the William Harvey Hospital. She has a special educational interest in BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aids) and is on the national committees of both baha-professionals and baha-users-support. |

| Mrs Amanda Banham BSc MSHAA Independent Hearing Aid Audiologist Amanda is a qualified hearing aid audiologist with 17 years experience. She carries out hearing tests for adults and children during our private clinics at St Saviour's Hospital Hythe and at William Harvey Hospital Ashford. She practices independently and can supply and service a full range of digital hearing aids from all leading manufacturers. Amanda is also trained in assessment and fitting of Baha® Divino and Cordelle sound processors. She is able to visit clients with mobility problems in their own homes.

He holds a Higher National Certificate in Audiology and is a member of the British Association of Audiologists. As well as providing routine hearing tests for our adult and paediatric patients, they perform sophisticated electrophysiological testing including Otoacoustic Emissions, Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry, Cortical Evoked Response Audiometry, and balance assessment including Electronystagmography. The Hearing Care Centre is an independent company and can supply private digital hearing aids from all of the leading manufacturers. They give informed and impartial advice on the best hearing aid solution for you. We have worked with Mark since 1993. |
 | Dr David Rand MBChB, FFRad(D)(SA), MRCR. Consultant Radiologist David Rand qualified in medicine at the University of Cape Town in 1981 and specialised in radiology, appointed as a consultant at the Groote Schuur Hospital in 1991. Since 1993 he has been a consultant in East Kent, and was Clinical Director of Radiology for South East Kent Hospitals until 2003. Special interests include cross-sectional imaging (CT and MRI scanning). His professional opinion is reliable, focused on what is clinically important, and highly regarded by his colleagues. Jeanette Smith has been in charge of the day ward at the Chaucer Hospital since 1996. Qualified as a State Registered Nurse in 1978, she specialised in surgical nursing and holds a degree in day surgery and oncology. She has 28 years clinical experience. Claire Andrews is qualified to English National Board level in peri-operative critical care and has over 20 years clinical experience. |  | Dr Chi Davies MA(Oxon) MBBS(Lond) FFARSI MBA Consultant Anaesthetist & Clinical Director, Day Surgery Services, East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust. Chi holds an MBA in Strategic Health Services Management. She qualified as a doctor in 1978, and was appointed as a Consultant in 1993. Her clinical interests include anaesthesia for Special Needs, obstetric and Head & Neck surgery. She is a partner in the Cinque Ports Anaesthetic Group, a team of experienced consultant anaesthetists who provide a professional service to our patients undergoing surgery at St Saviours Hospital.

We recognize their work on the front line of defence against hospital acquired infections. MRSA is extremely rare in our private hospitals. |
